Super Food For Super Women By The Imperial Culinary Club
There comes a point when you get fed up of eating out every day and end up looking for a good home-cooked food. Food that is filled with required nutrients and super qualities that give you energy, amp up your stamina and provide you with healing properties. These super foods were precisely the topic of discussion at the Imperial Culinary Club when it hosted a live cooking session to celebrate Women's Day with Chef Parul Pratap and Tea Sommelier Anamika Singh- Founder of Anandini Himalaya Tea.
Chef Parul Pratap demonstrated her expertise to the club with a live culinary session on super food that included an extremely tasty pumpkin risotto that was light and not laden with cheese along with oats apple crumble, also very light and tasty. All the while giving her tips to make it healthy while cooking. The cooking session turned out to be the most interesting especially since it was paired with tea and Anamika Singh made sure that tea was not something you had hurriedly.
She absolutely complemented the cooking session and the choice of food with her personal tea blends like Humming Homewards and Blue Tokai coffee that was an awesome blend of coffee and tea, smooth, light and fragrant. Born into a family of tea drinkers and tea makers Anamika insisted that everyone read the instructions and ingredients on the tea boxes before buying one. "The biggest mistake we make is that we never read the instructions or the ingredients before buying that pack of tea. Are you buying green tea with jasmine that has real jasmine flowers in it or is it just a flavour?" she did make a point!
Many of us do tend to forget that our kitchen is filled with super food like turmeric, basil leaf, cumin, pomagranete, guavas, walnuts and coriander leaves etc. All we need to do is dip into the vast healing properties that these fruits, nuts and vegetables store. They are the super foods that we always have in store. The live cooking session celebrating the Women's Day at the Daniel's Tavern at the Imperial was a reminder that we need our super foods for our well-being as we go through the many personal and professional challenges, health must get utmost importance.
As Vijay Wanchoo, Senior Executive Vice President & General Manager, the Imperial, New Delhi rightly commented “We men are grateful to our women for the difference they make in our lives. Their inspirational journeys to the top of the ladder, through the lens of gender equality is a true awakening. It’s now time to be aware what is important for their well being as they surmount personal and professional challenges along their journeys.
