Take a trip through Petra with Queen Rania
Take a wonderful virtual tour of the ancient city of Petra with Queen Rania of Jordan.
If Petra in Jordan has been on your bucket list for a long time, here's your chance to view it up close and personal in the confines of your home, as luxuriously as you wish and without incurring any expense. Petra also known as the Rose city, is the archaeological and historical city in Jordan. Add to it another pleasant surprise. The royal voice of the beautiful queen of Jordan Rania Al Abdullah will take you on a journey to Petra in a way which could not have been imagined by our forefathers. Queen Rania known for her advocacy of various sectors of the society such as the education, health community empowerment among others collaborated recently with Google to present Petra, Jordan's most visited tourist attraction to the rest of the world. The queen is also an avid user of social media.

Her voice takes you through a virtual tour of the majestic pre historic city woven by nature into incredible structures built into the rugged mountains. Described by the Smithsonian Magazine as one of the 28 places to see before you die, the film is an amazing discovery of the ancient city while sitting in your favourite rocking chair in the privacy of your own house. Petra also featured in the Hollywood blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, that gave the world some gloriously unforgettable scenes of the city's wonders.
Since November 23rd, the 360-degree street view imagery of Petra and 30 other landmarks in Jordan became available on Google Maps for the first time. This technology lets users explore places around the world like landmarks, natural wonders, as well as culturally and historically significant sites. It gives you the feeling of being there and experiencing the entire wonders magically.
To launch this international campaign, Queen Rania wrote a blogpost for Google Blog in which she said, “"people all over the world now have a window into our magical Kingdom in the heart of the Middle East.” The video is available globally on YouTube and will be featured on Google's home page across the world for the coming 24 plus hours.
She added that this allowed people to “understand more about each other's culture and histories and realise that we are more alike than we are different,” she added.
