It’s a sight to behold the moment you step inside Sampan at The Suryaa, New Delhi. Luxepointindia was invited to listen to the live band Black Slade that has found its way back into the Pan Asian restaurant after more than two decades. The band has walked into a brand new menu and a refurbished and prettily decorated Sampan.

"It is much different now," says Antony Evaristo Braganza, the oldest and the original band member who played while he was still in his teens. "Earlier we had people dancing and singing now they want softer music and want to enjoy the food, also when we used to play earlier there were not many rooms, now there are many rooms," he adds.

What makes dining out a memorable experience? Most of us would say food and the ambience, but it also depends on the company, views and of course the music. He joins me as I indulge into the delicious food. Sampan is iconic to Delhi and many vouch for its food and ambience. I have chosen to try out the classics from the menu by first ordering the sushi platter but the chef has already lined up his specialities that includes fish, chicken and some amazing veggies.

I just can't stop raving about the view that the restaurant offers. If you get the right table and I was lucky to get one J I could see the entire city blinking with lights, dancing away into the night as Black Slade gave the best of retro music, charming the evening into  an utterly enjoyable experience.  It's absolutely magical and spell binding.
